Did you know that John the Baptist was known by the Messiah as not only a prophet but greater than a prophet?
The scripture is found in Matthew 11:9-10:
"But what went ye out for to see? A PROPHET ? Yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee."
Did You Know? John the Baptist was the only man chosen by YAHUAH (God) to baptize The MESSIAH! Found in John 1:29-30
"The next day John seeth YAHUSHA (Jesus) coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. "And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him."
And also in Matthew 3:13-17
"Then cometh Yahusha from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Yahusha answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him."
In the days of old, he was even prophesied of by the prophet Isaiah in 700 B.C. Isaiah 40:3
"The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of ELOHIM, make straight in the desert a highway for our ELOHIM."
You can find this fulfilled in Matthew 3:3, Luke 3:4, John 1:23. As we can see John was chosen by THE MOST HIGH to prepare the way for the coming of His Son, our SAVIOUR YAHUSHA.
Did You Know?
And John's father was a Priest in the temple, his job was to burn incense. It was the Hebrews customs to offer this in the temple once a year.
Our Heavenly Father's angel Gabriel was sent to Zacharias, John's father to announce his coming? In Luke 1:13 says,
"But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias,: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son and thou shalt call his name John."
We can see why the prophetic call was so powerful on his life. Luke 1:76-77 says,
"And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the YAH to prepare his ways; To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins."
The Old Testament prophets actually foretold of John's coming in the role he would fulfil. His father prophesied after THE RUACH HA'QODESH filled him Luke 1:67-72. John was the only prophet (forerunner) that prepared the way of the MESSIAH and the only man to introduce Him to the world John 1:29.
As we can see John's work was one of preparation, leading people to get their hearts ready for those who are waiting and looking for the Messiah!
